Fabric first
Good insulation and careful attention to how the building is constructed help reduce heat loss and create a more comfortable property all year round.
Energy & efficiency
Energy-efficient construction is about more than adding technology. We look at how the property works as a whole, helping to create homes that are warmer, more comfortable and more economical to run — now and for years to come.

Efficiency by design
Considering insulation, glazing, ventilation and heating early in the project helps create a property that is warmer, more comfortable and more efficient to run — while avoiding unnecessary alterations later.
Good insulation and careful attention to how the building is constructed help reduce heat loss and create a more comfortable property all year round.
The right glazing can bring in natural light while helping the property stay warmer in winter and more comfortable in summer.
As properties become better insulated, good ventilation becomes increasingly important for maintaining fresh air and a comfortable living environment.
Choosing efficient heating and hot-water systems that suit the property can improve comfort while helping to keep running costs under control.
Comfort, performance and running costs
Underfloor heating provides comfortable, even warmth throughout a room and works particularly well when it is planned into the project from the beginning.
Air source heat pumps can be an efficient way to heat a well-insulated property, and we have incorporated them into many of our projects. We consider them as part of the wider build and work with the appropriate specialists where required.
Solar panels and battery storage can help reduce reliance on bought-in energy. We consider whether they are right for the property and how best to incorporate them into the build.
Good heating controls allow different areas of the property to be managed independently, improving comfort and helping avoid unnecessary energy use.
We consider not only what an improvement costs to install, but how it could affect energy use and running costs over the longer term.
A well-designed, energy-efficient property should simply feel better to live in — warmer, more consistent and more comfortable throughout the year.
Forward-thinking construction for the way properties need to perform in the future.
Government support & energy upgrades
Government grants and incentives are available from time to time to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their properties, including support for measures such as air source heat pumps and other low-carbon heating and energy-saving improvements.
Schemes and eligibility change, so we don't promise funding or provide grant advice. However, we can help point you towards the current official information and, where required, work alongside the appropriate accredited specialists as part of the wider project.
If efficiency matters to you, the earliest conversation is the most valuable one. Tell us about the property and what you want it to achieve.
